With Dust 5432421234124 on the horizon and looking like it will be awesome sauce, I have started up my old EVE online account and am playing again. Is anyone of my old XoO mates in game still?

DUST might look awsome, but being a console shooter, will be hopelessly gimped from the get-go. and at best, will have a popular life of a few months, untill the next halo, or whatever comes. then it will be abandoned save for a core of perhaps a couple dozen players. and even the majority of them will quit in a few years when the next console gen arrives.

My thoughts exactly. Console shooters never seem to have a very long lifespan unless they are amazing for console. I dont think DUST will be that kind of game.

my hope, is that when the console version utterly fails to meet CCP's expectations... rather than scrap it, theyll rework it into a PC game and relaunch.

ish alittle hope.... but its mine and you cant have it :p

I don't think it'll fail if that's what you mean. Console gamers are mindless dolts who will play anything, especially if it's FPS, and especially if it's online-focused... but all they'll do is fuck around. There will be no real teamwork or strategy. In that sense, it can fail.

I agree an MMOFPS belongs on PC, where competitive gamers have the tools to play at an advanced level.

they are also easily distracted by shiney objects, like Halo, and as soon as a Major Franchise released a game... DUST's playerbase will drop by like 80% minimum

Ya. they tend to be quite fickle in my experience. But there are a few hardcore guys out there who will probably get this game just because it might help them in EvE. EvE does have some of the most hardcore players ive ever seen!

lol! not that much, i make my fortune by selling characters. and i like to try *everything*

so (for example) i wanted to try indus, i bought a young indie, raised it to awsomeness, then sold it, and bought another char for my next fad, making several billion isk profit in the process.

right now my 'active char' has 40m-something, but since ive done it all... ive finally decided to settle down, and im currently raising a char who will be exactly as i want him... hes only 9m at the moment though.

if your ever bored, take a look at Furriian, Cheryl Winder and Persecution, those are the last three i raised then sold, last time i looked in on them, they were doing quite well ^^

i used to be in MM, but right now im just flopping about in highsec, helping nubs and nub corps... the attrition rate is amazing >_<
