I never player fleet command...there are mines and fighting at full impulse not recommended as it is a great drain on your energy levels..dont think you have any shields at full impulse.

I have had a tractor beam on me and it stopped me cold..it didnt drag me along but then my ship was the same size as his...maybe some huge ship could do that. Mines when you get close enough will target you and then move to you. Guess you could tractor someone then release your mines.

there is damage to you from exploding ships (the most damage Ive ever taken) and Id guess from your own mines exploding..I would not try this tooo close.
no other collison objects ive seen that hurt besides mines..Ive taken on objects at full impulse to check...I just bounced off space stations..asteroids etc

No firing from warp speed and warp speed is only used in sector space, that is the area in which you travel the large map. IE from one system or from one section of space to another.

...space the... nm, YEAH I'm there!!

    ..What "She" (hehe) said!

A game with Tamboura again, the Race is Afoot.

I also pre-ordered from Atari. Got my activation confirmation email today (for the pre-order); still can't download anything. I would love to pre-order from walmart too; but I should probably use that $50 for "Cut Proof" gloves for work (most kevlar gloves cost $50 online).

..think most people would get sick with/of Newtonian Physics. They've often said when it come to True vs. Fun, the FUN will win!

.....sry for the late post here ya'll. Yes Stash is done with his (my) training & is Back. Yes I will be playing STO. I have pre-ordered from Atari.

    And I am STOked !!
http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/ Check out the STOked pod-casts; if you haven't seen them. They're 25-75min long.

ooo, the new one is out NOW!! Only 70.37 minutes long.

yeah, it was fairly easy to blast through a tractor if you gunned the engines... then you lay a mine as you fly over them. you could also polarize the tractor to break theirs, but the power issues were oversimplified and problematic. id quit the game and cancel my order if the power management was like SFC.

so, no small warp jumps inside a system? i kind of like the idea of coming in with torpedoes flying as i exit warp at max range and recharging as i come into phaser range

I remember somewhere that Torpedoes were good for hull, not shield. I think they are more aimed towards taking out runners.

yeah, but the idea behind warping in and dropping torpedoes from afar is that often people haven't gotten everything up yet.

im sure they have some sustainable method to prevent you from just running around at yellow or red alert 24/7

i just hope they have full impulse actually be near-light speed and that it actually creates difficulty hitting with phasers. i know the physics outside of tv aren't as easy to to program in relativity, but it would be nice.
