New Forum Layout Ideas?

Yeah yeah, first things first...But there isn't anything we can really do about that, can we. So while the admins work their tails off getting us some sweet forums back up (Keep up the great work guys, we're in your debt) I thought why not talk about a forum layout.

Obviously what we have now is fucking awesome (The default blue)...and to change it would be blasphemy, but I don't think it feels XoO-like. What would you guys like to see? The same as before, or something new?

Frankly, I think with a brand new forum, we should have a brand new layout - A fresh start all around. And one of my ideas, many of you may not like. I would love to go back to a Teal/Purple/Black layout like we had on the old xentinals.com forums, but with a much more modern and slick look to it (Those who remember it know it was pretty blocky and crap). It would be nice for XoO to at least remember it's roots (And the great Planetside campaign) in some way.

Another one would be a slick gold/silver combination much like our logo. Have some cool lighting effect (static of course) behind the forum names like the Xen of Onslaught does on the banner at the top of these forums.

Maybe we can pool a bunch of ideas together and vote on them.

 

Black/Dark Grey = XoO. Doesn't really matter to me what the other colours should be, as long as these are in it.

Or make everything pink, that would totally fit XoO and the people in it. Inlcuding me.

 

I'd say stick with the old colors, they fit IMO and I always liked them

Then again I'm not the type of person that cheers at colors and just prefers things black or white

 

I liked the colours of the old forums, but I would love a new layout entirely though, a new look even if we kept the colours.

 

As long as I can remember (2006) Xen was always black and grey, even in games. The Guild Wars division first used a black cape with silver emblem, and reversed it for its second division.

That is how I pictured it, but we I agree that a new color scheme might be in order. I think darker colors would fit us better, like hunter green or navy.

 

XoO wasn't always grey we used to have purple and green colors in our theme for the good old PS Vanu


Kyoji, lets go with one skin for now, and we can talk about if we want multiple skins later. I prefer to not have multiple skins because, well because it means more work when we do updates for one unless we get into using child skins, but that is another issue.

The blue will not be staying, but I am not that creative so I am going to be leaving that up to our task force which is our creative team...

Feel free to post ideas here for them though.

 

As I said, get a bunch of ideas and maybe we can vote on them later.

 

I do think that darker colours would be the way to go
A black and red would be really cool but I dont think it would be xen I think we should stick to the colours from the banner

 

I'm with Zarash on the banner colours, but if we do ever go multipule layouts, we should have a Teal/Purple layout from Planetside.

 

You said you werent just talking about colours so wat else were you talking about?

Black and red is so cliche

If anything we should go for white and <insert colour> A million and one guilds use black in some form. We could start a fresh and make a new statement to go with our fresh ideals.

Plus white dye is oh so much cheaper than black dye, ya get me?

We can add tons of smilies if you all like, but it's easier to add large groups of smiles with a smilies graphic pack.
We should probably wait till we have a skin on the forum though because most graphics are made for either light backgrounds or dark backgrounds and they don't look good if you don't get the right ones.

 

I just found the customize profile section in the user CP so if anyone wants to come up with a colour design for the forums try it in there first to see if it looks good

I tried to play around with it, but it didn't seem to really even do anything.

 

I say make it the color-scheme and style of the current banner, it looks good.

I'm not a big fan of the white-text-on-black-background style of the previous site--It's very hard to read in bright environments. At least if we go that route can we have a white or light color background version?
