Am I missing something? You mention nice discounts but don't actually list the prices you got them for.

yep, BUT anything RocketFish, Dinex we get super discounts and then insigna we get a nice discount.

All other stuff its what ever the normal % we get....

like a 8ft rocketfish HDMI thats 69.99 we get for like 5 USD and some odd change. Monster HDMI 8Ft thats 79.99 we get for like 20 USD and some odd change i think or 23 USD.

tvs its like between 200-400 i think off depends but theres also these type of rebaits we can get where we get cheap ass tvs. Like our store manager took a 15 min quiz about sony products and walked away paying only 400 USD for a 52in LCD tv thats with the emp discount added.

Best buy employees pay what they TELL you the store pays for the product (+10%, +tax). This is because there are a lot of things they don't want to give you a discount on... this includes computers. When I worked there, they told us the store pays $580 for a $599 laptop (ends up at $640 + tax if you do staff purchase).

It doesn't add up when you do the math so I know it's BS... especially when they have all these sales with $100 off any laptop.

The only thing you get good discounts on are BB brand cables/accessories and TVs (but how often do you buy a new TV?).

That's true. We do get great deals from manufactors for being best buy employees. In regards to the pay there is no commission and little rewards.

Thats better then Home Depot :D. Associates there get no store discounts, only discounts from other places (like 10% off AT&T cell phone bill, 7% discount off Dell that isnt stackable with coupons, and a couple of other minor discounts).

I would trade those in for Best Buy discounts any day of the week :p you guys have more geek goodies too (computer hardware, video games, anime).

No commission is earned either @HD, and the employee bonus is only if the store makes sales plan (usually the bonus for regular associates is anywhere from $30 to $500 every 6 months or so). Department Supervisors get a double bonus, and Assistant Store Managers and Store managers make the big bucks (some ASM's even receive $15,000 bonuses sometimes depending on how much the store sells).

Although I heard the pay in Best Buy isnt the best

    Check out http://www.glassdoor.com/

it lets you see what other people get paid working for what company, and what job title. If you decide to share your salary information with the site (anonymously of coarse) you get unlimited access to the site for a year.
