Interesting article about why Duke Nukem Forever did not finish. What happened on the development side and the kind of decisions that were made which doomed the game. Four pages long, but a great read for anyone who finds development interesting.

There are lessons to be learned here.

That is one hell of a long article... its a shame, I never actually played Nuke Dukem (don't ask about the name change), but I know a lot of people were looking forward to it.

I did try Duke Nukem slightly after the huge craze.. Never was really like omg thats so awesome tho. I mean it had its moments of funny and oh lala with the ladies.. Still preferred my Doom and Wolfenstein..

A finished and out-of-the-door modest product is worth more than the perfect unfinished and unreleased one.

    Too bad :(

    Awesome read.

This and Doom 2 were the games that got me heavily into FPS games. DNF had amazing potential.

Really dissapointed that DNF never launched, was really looking forward to that game!

Together with Doom and Castle Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem was one of the first shooter games I played at the tender age of 6.

bah, old times sake yeh.... duke nukem was probably the 3rd game i,ve ever played ( Doom > command and conquer > duke nukem) LOVED the strippers and pig squads ='<.

i guess some of us will never get to see them T_T.

-- edit-- has read the article, i cried a little =<. I do understabd/see where it's comming from tho.
I myselve wont be satisfied with half end results neither eventho it's often already fine with the assignment.
Thank god for not being 1st in charge.

I would have killed to play this game, and so would many others. If they had any scence they would sell the duke nukem name and perhaps what they had worked on, onto another company.

Hate to say it but i think they could have avoided such a terrible outcome.

    Duke Nukem - FOREVER !

i,m personally not a fan of other companies finishing their job ( from what i,ve seen there's always this influence in a bad way. look at what happened to C&C when EA took westwood over)
not saying it will happen ofc and i admit i never showed much intrest in DNF BUT ! if it were on the shelves i would surelly checked it out.

it's a case of someone having too much ambition ( loving his job cant deny that) and being too perfectionistic. if there's noone to stop him ( wich people tried) then it's like a child and a cookie jar.

call me stupid but i do feel sorry for Broussard wich has been working on the game for ages.
