I wouldn't mind trying to help out with this project. I get done with fall semester in a few weeks then will have a month free to work on it.
Just finished the game. Really liked the way they did the epilogue (including the "where are they now?" sequence - that was kind of cool). Credits music was nice as well. It does seem this game world could go places. Looking forward to future instalments...
I was surprised how short the game was. I did all my quests, sidequests, and DLC in 35 hours . I'm going to try it again playing solo. Not sure how I'll fair, but it should be interesting nonetheless.
How the hell... I am considered a fast reader, skipped most of the Codex entries but read most of the quest dialogue in details and I have 68 hours on my last save. Even with skipping everything with the Esc key, playing four damage dealing characters with AoE on easy mode and knowing exactly what and where you need to go... I wouldn't see 35 hours possible. 45? Perhaps but 35 damn that's half the time it took me and I barely scratched the extra Codex knowledge. How did you manage that?
Yeah I explored the whole map and didn't even complete all the quests and it took me quite a while longer than that. as far as paying goes i paid for the digital expanded copy at what 64$? that should be more than enough for a game, and 5$ for a 1 hour mod (1 hour for newbies, much less for most of us) seems like they are nickel and dimeing us to me. I probably wont buy anymore of the DLC's now that I have thoroughly completed the game and a good deal of the achievements, although if I start over I may contemplate it. I am not the only one who feels this way, there are a lot of people who feel the same way. If I am paying for content it needs to be substantial and have an effect on the game and the world outside of a side adventure for some loot that won't be of any use anymore. And who rents movies anymore? Hulu is free and I get well over 100 hours of entertainment a month out of my netflix sub and that only costs me about 18$. If I had to rent a flick there is also always the Redbox for 1$ rentals.
I didn't AOE anything, so idano. I had myself (shield warrior), dog, backstab no stealth rogue, and my healbot that only had 2 tactics (attack and AOE heal if anyone is under 50%). Once you can afford the darkspawn gems on your weapons it becomes so easy to steamroll everything. With the 2 20's or maybe 12's whatever the grandmasters were I was pretty much auto attacking everything to death and only using my shield skills for interrupts. And the dog becomes EXTREMELY OP I set him to charge any caster and do his take down which kills them almost instantly. Since you do nothing but put points in Str and Sta for him he's a beast, literally) I have the XBOX version not sure if that makes any difference.
your not a man till you play it on impossible mode, thats where the real fun is. Cant just let your character auto attack everything.
My first play through was clocked in at about 35 hours as well, but I missed a TON of shit. I'm playing it through again with the same character because I missed Lelianna the first time and I'm about 15 hours in and I'm still dicking around in Denerim. The only things I've done so far are the Mages Tower, the DLC's and Redcliffe's initial quests, taking my time to make sure I get all of the quests possible. Btw, there's some Chanter's Board quests in Redcliffe after everything is over. I ended up coming back to tell the smith that I never found his daughter and ended up finding that there were a couple of Chanter's Board quests near the ones that you do in Denerim out there on the world map. Keep exploring guys! There really is a TON of content in this fucking game!
Yea I learned the hard way you don't accept a bunch of quests then work on the main story line for a couple hours. Because when you go back to do X quest, you took to long and the darkspawn steam rolled over whatever you were supposed to do. It's actually a really cool component.
Just finished as berserker warrior human goody two shoes..I cant wait to start again. This time a mage...and chose all the smartass remarks. I am soooo going to screw ferelden. last time hooked up with both the babes but chose the bard/assassin babe over morrigan...that bitch left before the final battle. I did not expect pixel porn in this game. (wonders if there is an x-rated patch for this game) And sorry Zev..Im not going there. and logain in my group..The last thing I expected as an outcome. Bet that bastard looted my tomb.
...oh. I had to resort to plugging away with a bow in some points on normal before. Was challenging, but not ridiculous. Maybe I'll have to up the difficulty level next time.
Expansion was announced today. Dragon Age Origins Awakening. To be released on 3/16 http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening
I'm currently playing this game and I was wonder does anyone else find the combat system chaotic. I started the game as a ranger and couldn't manage battles well because my tank was retarded. Since then I've started over and I'm taking the responsiblity as tank and it has made the game quite easier. I do feel this game would make an awesome 4 player co-op experience with a revamped combat system. Does anyone else feel the same?
The combat system sucks somewhat until you get enough tactics slots to make the tank & healer not act so dumb... I have completed the game as both a tank and a ranger. The ranger was a little more difficult and I had to have more specialized tactics than when I was tanking myself.
Sometimes it's easy... sometimes not so much. Co-operative would be interesting, but you would need to ditch the pause system for that. On the other hand, you might not need it so much either...
This is what you do. Drop the pause system Add manual attacks maybe a strong & weak Add manual bow firing (think Baldur's Gate) Add 4 player co-op Don't get me wrong the game is nice. Good graphics, good character depth, great story, fun to play, but the combat system is stupid. Combat is diffucult to make and I constantly find myself switching from player to player to manage everything because the AI is dumb. For a game that requires a lot of strategic gameplanning you shhould definitely get more tactic slots in the beginning of the game.
