Your current location isn't protected by the FCC, I don't know why you'd find this as shocking. You still need a court order to access any records which includes past GPS data. As for selling that information, we don't sell it, we give it away. You can't argue with a court order.

This is nothing new, it has been going on since cellphones were invented.

I don't find it shocking I find it amazing how much privacy people are willing to give up for a bit of convenience though. And the FCC has nothing to do with me I live in Canada.

I know someone that was able to buy cell phone and txt (sms) records (including full content and numbers to and from) from some girls at telus (canada). I guess this chick makes a ton of money selling records to private investigators etc.
Don't trust anything is safe ;)

Or maybe most people just don't care because it really does nothing but help law enforcement. Furthermore I do not see how someone knowing my ass went to Quizno's at 5PM on Tuesday is really anything more than useless information.

Soon everyone will be wearing a chip implant so it'll make no difference. Welcome to novus ordo seclorum. Buy some guns if you want some sense of security.

Yeah, but who'd want cellphone records of Canadians? :p

But yeah, 8 mil... its a large number, but its not surprising when you think of the amount of clients that Sprint has.

Those aren't all unique individuals, often times when you're running a tracking scenario they have you monitor more than one person at a time and update every so often. Each hit on each person is a new event.
