Pretty much post your top three movies/movie series of all time. I need more movies to watch instead of doing schoolwork! (and I'm certain others are in the same boat). If you decide to not post, my avatar says that you must. 1. Lord of the Rings 2. The Dark Knight 3. Anchorman Post them!
1. The Good the Bad and the Ugly (Clint Eastwood at the pinnacle of awesomeness) 2. Sukiyaki Western Django (Plays off of spaghetti westerns and old samurai movies and does it awesomely) 3. The Magnificent Seven (Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson; the sheer manliness of this movie is amazing) I geek out over old Westerns... They're amazing. Other great movies: -Where Eagles Dare -Fistful of Dollars -For a Few Dollars More -Inside Man -Father Goose -Blackhawk Down
There are just so many movies that I love, but these 3 are the ones that I will watch any time they are on. 1.) This is Spinal Tap 2.) Animal House 3.) The Princess Bride
Caddyshack "Hey Wang ! ... put your camera its a parking lot " Road House Pulp Fiction Aliens Terminator
Bender's Big Score Beast With a Billion Backs Bender's Game Into the Wild Green Yonder ... now for a serious answer ;P Not knowing your entire taste in movies, and considering that i've used a program that I made to determine what movies to watch randomly... I'll just throw out some good ones I've seen lately: Goemon (master ninja thief that has particularly good imagery and story, he's essentially the japanese robin hood in the beginning of the movie) Flight of the Living Dead (oddly... good) The Tournament (pretty decent action flick, lots of assassins go at it)
Usual Suspects (Stephen Baldwin/Kevin Spacey/Benecio Del Toro) The Great Outdoors (John Candy) Christmas Vacation (Chevy Chase) runner ups Terminator 1 (Arnold) Fargo (Steve Bushemi) Seven (Kevin Spacey/Morgan Freeman/Brad Pitt) Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (Vinnie Jones/Jason Statham) Platoon (William Dafoe/Forest Whitaker/Jon C Mcginley/Johny Depp/Tom Berenger/Charlie Sheen/Marlon Brando) Clear and Present Danger (Harrison Ford) The Boondock Saints (William Dafoe/Bob Marley)
so many good ones..forgotten more than ill remember..Like DJ J Pick..Pi..great one i forgot about. This is not listed in order of favs..that would be impossible Brazil The adventures of baron von munchhousen (sp?) Empire of the Sun The Unbearable Lightness of Being Ran American Graffiti The Seven Samurai blazing saddles Reservoir Dogs Little Big Man Full Metal Jacket Catch-22 2001: A Space Odyssey clockwork orange Raising Arizona The Damned Woodstock Yellow Submarine The Damned A Streetcar Named Desire Taxi Driver and soooooooo many more great ones....the list could go on and on and on
The Search for the Holy Grail - Monty Python - only movie I've seen more than 25 times The World's Fastest Indian - never really got much attention when it came out The Matrix ... sooo many others, very tough to narrow to three.
Equilibrium <-- Amazing take on how humanity is inhumane. Zombie Land <--- Double Tap And the Alien and Predator movies seperate not AvP
Favorite Overall: The Usual Suspects Suspense - The Usual Suspects Comedy - Army of Darkness Horror - Devil's Rejects Action - Ying Xiong (Jet Li's Hero) Adventure - Raiders of the Lost Ark War - Glory Buddy - Lethal Weapon 4 Period - The Patriot Sci-Fi - Matrix Animated - The Hobbit Anime - Sword of the Stranger Documentary - Thank You for Smoking Epic - Gladiator Romance - Last of the Mohicans Western - Tombstone Teen - Mean Girls Edit: I don't know how I left Drama off the list, but it is, without a doubt, The Godfather. If someone really wants to compare brain pans I'd love to do the full movie category listing and compare it to someone else to see our similarities.
Nice list Van. Though Hero I don't think counts as an action movie, which I'd have to stick with Equillibrium. The Patriot is way to long for me. Usual Suspects is easily listed as one of my favorites every time. Equilibrium is one too but mainly because I loved Fahrenheit 451. Thank You for Smoking can go in both my Comedy and Mocumentary categories and Gladiator is right next to Usual Suspects. Cult Classic is Army Of Darkness and Sci-Fi is Matrix. There's a few anime movies I enjoy more than others. I think all of them are by the director of Princess Monoke. I'm not a horror fan so I think I'll stick to the classic "The Thing". But for Adventure its Indiana Jones is my hero. Minus the crystal skull fuck up the whole thing. Romance I guess, since all the females insist, is The Princess Bride. For western I'd have to agree on Tombstone. I grew up about an hour south of it and went there on a regular basis so I loved the movie as a kid.
Honestly, I wasn't sure where I wanted to put Hero, it's one of my all time favorites, I was thinking Epic, but Gladiator owns that category with Braverheart being a VERY close second. If we were going to get serious about it, I'd probably say it belongs in the Sword and Sandal category, but others may disagree since it's not historically white. I think I'll have to come up with a homework assignment for you while I'm at work today.
So many greats it's hard to choose. I'll probably have to add as I remember later on. (In no particular order) There Will be Blood The Matrix (not 2 or 3, those are on my worst list) Pulp Fiction Children of Men Forrest Gump Fargo American Psycho The Usual Suspects Schindler’s List Snatch The Departed A Clockwork Orange Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Goodfellas Apocalypse Now American History X (Comedies/Fun) There's Something About Mary The 40 Year Old Virgin Old School Office Space Caddyshack Kung Fu Hustle (i lol'd) Juno Shaun of the Dead Superbad Dumb and Dumber The Big Lebowski Happy Gilmore Little Miss Sunshine Dazed and Confused
