Mass Paralysis is the shiz yo. Hex of Humanity is pretty sweet when you can't quite get to the Mage in the enemies mob because you have to focus on the boss for a while.
My fav so far is my utility healer specd for arcane warrior. i tend to sit there with a few aura buffs on throwing out heals when needed but doing some pretty nice melee dps, and because my magic stat is high i have some pretty sick defence too wearing the wardens keep armour.
I'm coming towards the end and...well...a game has never really ever made me sit for a good 5 minutes, looking at the screen, wondering which option I should choose like this game. My mind was on fire in so many scenes trying to figure out what I wanted to say or do. Also, I got pretty close to crying in a couple of parts, felt the tears welling, especially my final few words with Morrigan. Amazing game, can't wait to finish it! 35+ hours in and I can't get enough of this game.
I just finished the first part of the Landsmeet after gathering the army, 55 hours so far. We'll see how many more hours I have but I have yet to do the Warden Keep which should be another 5 or so hours and I read pretty fast so I saved some time there Their estimate of 70-80 hours actually seems like the real deal. Ever since Fable promised me 80 hours and I finished it in 7 hours only to go "wait... what just happened?", I haven't been taking these completion estimates seriously at all. Glad to see there is still a company out there releasing quality games that take more than 10 hours to complete.
I had a mage/shapeshifter/arcane war that was just way too OP so I started a rogue/ass/duelist.....luv this game so far
I've heard arcane warrior blood mage is the best character class, since you can wear heavy armor and still cast spells as a blood mage. I don't know how you become a blood mage though, must've missed that spec. I'll look it up, missed the reaver too which is a sad face. Almost rdy to fight the archdemon on normal, here's hoping it isn't too hard.
It was insane on easy but end boss fight don't tend to change much between setting in these game so may not be much harder on normal. Spoiler Dragon fights are rough in this game and this one tosses in a few more things just for kicks. Kind of reminds me of Ony in WOW
Ah I was wondering about bloodmage... I didn't go into the Fade there. Been playing all night and got to the last handful of battles for the final battle. This game has literally left me agonizing over decisions and cursing my ass off when things didn't go the way I wanted them to. I missed out on a couple of quests due to poor timing/order on my part and had a few lines go astray due to poor conversation selections. I also have never flip flopped about how I felt about my group mates so much in any game (well besides mmo;s ). One second you hate them, the next you love, and then you hate them all over again! I am also agonizing over what class to play next since there are some combat styles I want to play as, like 2h or dw or even a mage (mages pwn so hard in this game). I can't remember the last time I wanted to play through a game I beat... Great game, can't wait for the next one...
Finally finished my first play through this morning. The legend of Deric seems to have a cliffhanger ending! Seriously, this has been the best fucking RPG I've played in recent years. This story actually had me crying at the end a little bit from how moving the entire game had been for me. I've never been this deeply involved in a story. Thank you Bioware for such an amazing experience. I'm gonna be redoing Deric's story because I missed so much my first play through and I really wanna re-do some things on my part.
They just announced some more DLC to be released. Return to Ostagar: http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/
I found myself abusing the AOE confusion mage spell, it stuns them and then makes them attack each other. great for orzimar
a part of me dislikes this added content and the additional charges. Makes me feel like they are milking us for more cash on material that should have been included in the original release.
True but on one end you can compare it to other entertainment value. Renting a movie is 5$, 3-5 hours of content is 5$. I mean value wise it's fine, we're just not used to this, especially on PC. And well for the PC they did release the tools to create adventures aka DLC content... just need to wait a little while longer and we'll get plenty of free DLC.
I can see doing this if the DLC is something of substance. It takes a good amount of money to develop new scenarios & hire voice actors, so I understand the need to charge people. However, I wouldn't pay good money for new armor models (happily the blood dragon stuff was free for me). MMOs have a constant influx of revenue because of subscriptions, non-subscription games do have to make money off of the content that they produce. You can do full expansions, but you are waiting 1+ years in between additions. DLC lets people get more content, more often. You are not required to buy it. You argue that it should have been included in the original release, but we all know that games are not always released with everything the developers had planned. Sometimes it takes a little longer to polish up parts or something needs to be cut out for the sake of pacing. DLC can help flesh out a story, but I don't think that it is necessary for the enjoyment of the game. If you don't like the idea of DLC then just don't pay for it. We will eventually get a lot of free DLC once the community starts producing content on its own. In some cases the community produced stuff might be better than the official campaigns (as was the case in NWN and NWN2). Right now, I am more than willing to pay $5 for a few more hours of party banter and content.
Well im currently running through the game on my second run with a mage this time. Great game really enjoyed it, but i dont think it was as good as baldurs gate 2. Dont get me wrong I loved playing this game and im enjoying it still, but i dont think it has the same magic that BG2 had. Anyway I dont mind paying a few extra quid for some DLC, and with the release of the toolset im sure some awsome stuff will be created. Im even going to have a play around with it, I loved creating campaigns on the old NWN toolset so this should be quite good. Already got a few ideas Actually this has got me thinking... If people were interested, and we had a good amount of people, we could have a go at a campaign map ourselves, a kind of XoO project!
good idea count me in! i finished my first playtrogh in 75 hours on monday i started a second one with a elven female rogue, having a lot of fun!
