Since release date is getting close I want to inform everyone of what they are getting into with the PC version. So far from IW's crap they have lost over 15million in preorders and continue to release terrible ideas every interview that hopefully makes more people cancel.

I am saying this because it is about time the gaming community stopped supporting companies that completely ignore their PC player base.

Here's trailer found by chris that sums most of it up.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K9MBxeEqyI

Here's the ever growing list of problems for PC gamers. I agree that most console players may not understand, due to it being a direct console port, why we are complaining but if you haven't played FPS on pc then I can't say you ever will.

No mods - no getting rid of terrible perks/weapons, no tweaking of weapon damage(only softcore no hardcore mode)
No dedicated servers- kills ALL competition for pc gamers
No leaning - because the game wasn't balanced for leaning unlike everyother Call of Duty game they made
Max 9v9 play- doesn't matter much for competitive players but for casual public players its absolutely stupid
No Console- Can't tweak your game to better work on your computer.
No Record Function - No longer can we make videos for CoD or record for catching hackers
No Kicking/Banning of players- Hackers free reign. IW says they will not tolerate hackers. I guess this means they will be banning them themselves. (lol)
Game was jacked up to $60 bucks for no reason, in fact I'm thinking they think less is more.
P2P hosting - This is an absolute joke for PC players on so many levels. But on top of that If a host is disconnected the game waits 5 seconds then randomly selects another host...yes that guy with the commodore64 and dial-up could be the next host but you couldn't kick him before because the game doesn't support it.

A good video interview with IW describing how call of duty 4 MW will be awesome on PC and console. Yet in MW2 not a single one of these things exists.

Where did you get your stats for how many preorders they lost? Can you link it?

I think he means $15 million, which would equate to about 250k preorders.

I looked at those too, and it looks like a console-only preorder list. I didn't see any PC games listed there. Could be wrong...

I could have told you when CoD4 came out that the angle they were trending was bad, then when WaW came out I could say without a doubt the series was dead unless they stopped fucking it up. Nice to see they are too busy sucking off console FPS players to look towards PC players still.

Ummm Bob, after CoD3, they got their shit together to make CoD4, and that game was/is awesome. I won't lie though, they have killed the series. Hopefully like MMOs it has a res timer....

Sorry I think CoD is/was a piece of shit. I own it, have owned it since it came out, still think it's trash. But I am apparently in a very small minority that is steadily growing :)

It's a "realistic shooter" that is also trying to not be too realistic but not be CS. It succeeded in being mediocre in pretty much every department except deathmatch where it is a complete pile. Many maps become a string of deaths to nades followed by 2-3 frenzied seconds of killing people till your clip runs out then more dying to nades from martyr.

If you have to mod the game to make it good the game wasn't good. I play Oblivion modded to hell constantly but I maintain oblivion was a terrible game. Without mod it isn't worth playing.

Same for CS servers that dont allow awps or similar removals of weapons/abilities in games that are dubbed too "cheap". If a specific thing has to be removed to make things "fair" the designers are at fault and it takes away from the game since they release patches all the time. They could very easily change these items bonuses or actions in harcore mode for competition people.

I wouldn't' call the awp cheap, just a no skill 1 shot kill in a game where snipers were not designed well and every other gun took multiple hits.
The scout users got my props... no 1 shot kill without a headshot ;)

Every map is pretty well designed, with multiple paths to get to every objective. Usually if you go one way, you are running down a long opening with no/little cover. If you go the other way, you can easily sneak up behind the snipers.

Take one of my favorite maps for example... cs_militia...

cs_militia is a hostage rescue map. The Terrorist team is defending a house with hostages inside, and the Counter Terrorist team is assaulting the house. There is one path which takes you directly in front of the house with little cover, leaving you completely open to snipers in the windows and on the roof. However, there is a second path in the sewers which will bring you up to the side and behind the house. People pushing up the front way can wait until the side/back people push up, distracting the snipers and making it easier for the front team to push in.

When people make posts like bob I wonder if they even play FPS.

I think you were one of maybe 3 people who though CoD4 was shit btw...and if it was shit I'm wondering what you thought was good. Quake Wars?

Good news is that at least you won't be supporting MW2.

IMO, the AWP would be fine if red squares didn't surround the opposing team, so you would actually have to look for people.

Whether you agree or disagree with the changes for PC gaming in MW2, its not going to matter in the slightest to those selling it, since the vast majority of copies sold will be for the consoles.

If they lose, say, $30 million in sales (500k units) on PC, I'm pretty sure it will make sense economically to fix MW2 on PC, since I highly doubt it would take anywhere near $1 million to fix the game.

At the end of the day, PC sales might only be a fraction of console sales, but they are sales and $$$ nonetheless. IW and Activision would be pretty retarded to let this slip through their fingers.

It's not just about MW2. The boycott will be more effective in the long run, making PC game developers think twice before screwing with tried and true concepts (which seems to be a growing trend these days). So this is where we stand, and this is where we FIGHT!

I don't know wtf I'm going to be playing in the near future, probably the new modded MW2 maps on CoD4.
I'm definitely not buying MW2 until some changes are made.

I dont think the awp is cheap, I prefer the scout, the point is that for people who think CS IS AWESOME WITHOUT THE AWP they dont really enjoy CS, they enjoy a similar game they play in their heads.

I was never much of a CS fan. Something just seemed off.
