Alright, so, I feel pretty sad right now: Spoiler I went to Lothering, and did a few things there, but really didn't get a chance to find out where most of the bandits were hiding. But here's the really messed up part, I couldn't find Leliana. So, I left and went on my way to Redcliffe to help out the Arl. I got stuck on the defense part because it was taking the better part of an hour and it wasn't ending. I went on the forums to check and see how to get past it and stumbled accross another post. Looks like you can only get Leliana at that one point in Lothering, after you finish at Redcliffe, Lothering is toast. D= Watch out yo.
question for you guys... when in the tower, did any of you shoot yourself with the balista? I had cleared out the room and noticed there was an interact icon, completely ignoring the fact that it was probably a stationary weapon and not something to inspect >.< Luckily it did not do much damage. Spoiler She was in the inn near Sten, when I entered after talking to the revered mother I got jumped by bunch of templars and she helped out and then nearly forced me to let her join my party. Also, the way I played that area I did not hide the fact that I was a Grey Warden... so that probably had something to do with it
Dragon Age: Origins is Baldur's Neverwinter Knights of the Old Jade Empire Effect and I freaking love it. I'm playing a City Elf dual wield combat rogue with poisons, persuasion, and lockpicking. Those are mainly so I can explore story options I might miss otherwise. BioWare has done it again.
Had to buy a new xbox because my old one broke down for the 3rd and last time and got this game with it, wootz !
Don't forget to post your Bioware Social profile so we can add you! Spoiler So, I finally talked Allistair into teaching me how to be a Templar, but for my second Specialization, which is coming up in a few levels, I wanted to get Champion, does anyone know who teaches you how to be a Champion? Just an update, I'm at the top of the Mountain Temple and I'm so close to getting the Urn of Sacred Ashes, I just need to pass the gauntlet, mmm riddles Can't wait to get home from job training today and play some more!
I wanted to get this for the box as well, but everything I have read said the best experience is for PC. Due to all the controls and key bindings. Shrug. Can anyone compare, or say its okay on the box?
The PC has a rather strange control setup compared to most games, though it does seem to work OK nonetheless (reminds me very, very much of NWN except with right-click doing almost everything). It is also pretty mouse-driven. I suspect, though, that the 360/PS3 may have some other system that compensates for that. You can conceivably work the camera just fine with an analogue stick, and as long as there's a way to navigate the UIs (probably just directional controls again) and select stuff off the quick-bar thing (which facing facts you could abuse pause/resume if it took too long anyway)... I think it should be playable enough. But I haven't seen the console versions, so I can't tell you for sure. All I can do is describe how you can play the PC version and what kinds of control movements are necessary to do so... and then the console-owners I guess could compare and contrast. Or if we're lucky enough to have someone here who has played on both platforms...
The PC version has better controls, better camera options, and mucho better graphics. The PS3 version has better graphics than the XBox but it the buggiest of all three (and Sony is shitty with patches so this makes it worse than the XBox IMO), and the XBox has the worst graphics of the three, but nothing else wrong with it. It's worth noting that the graphics look good on them all, but it's not fallout good unless you're on the PC. FRIEND ME ON THE BIOWARE SOCIAL SITE: http://social.bioware.com/profile/56539
For those trying to decide between PC, XBOX360 or PS3... go with PC. Even without a high end computer you will get the same graphics that you would on XBOX360 but there are many advantages on PC, the main one being that you can pull the camera far out and have a tactical view. Console version doesn't have this view and it can make some fights much harder, especially since range weapons really shoot far in this. If you do have a decent computer and can run at maximum graphics, then it's definitely PC. Not to mention that you can mess around in the tool set on the PC version AND download modules from other players. Here's a video showing the major graphic differences between the 3 versions. There is also a good example near the end showing the tactical view from PC and the limitation of the console versions strategy wise. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pc-ps3-360-comparison-dragon-age/58659 But don't get me wrong, if my computer wasn't able to play the game at medium + I would go for console, but I would choose the easy controls and tactical view over a small difference in graphics.
Thanks for some of the links and comparisons everyone. I can read all the articles I want, but I'd like to here from you guys here over at home base. I'll be grabbin' it for PC in the next few weeks probably, need some cash.
Gotta say, I've been playing it on PC and it's just amazing, I can't write anything else because there really is nothing else to say, this game is absolutely the best RPG I've played to date, right up there with KOTOR, NWN and Jade Empire. After playing it on PC I really can't imagine any other way of playing it, playing it on a console would just seem so foreign to me!
I was looking at this but I am kind of looking for more of a solo game, is the game really group oriented? sometimes i just prefer working with one toon then micromanaging a small group.
Um... no, I don't think you could realistically play it solo. If you kept ahead of the curve in levels you might well be able to just let your companions do their own thing, but you'd practically have to be masochistic to 1-man it.
I have put probably 20 hours into it this weekend. I am loving the game. It probably has some of the best voice work I have heard in any game as well as some of the snappiest dialogue. It is just so much fun to play. My warrior/templar is about to hit lvl 14 and I hope I can unlock the Champion class soon.
This game is awesome. Mortae i have a request for some advice... how did you get a healer in your party before level 10? I am trying to find a way to heal without using pots but having a rough time... theres only so much cc you can pull off with a mage and rogue but other than that im gettting owned when i run out of pots. Should I get morrigan as a healer or wait for wynnen.?
Wynne and Morrigan are the only none player mages you get so its one or the other. Wynne starts out as a healer but you can turn Morrigan in to a healer if you want too it just takes at least 4 levels to max out the heal line and maybe a few more for some of the other spirit spells. I have run across the book in vendors for the healing spec I think it was 22g but I am not to sure I just used Wynne for my first run though.
