Having to buy a little key chain and have it shipped to you would get pretty annoying if you lose it/it malfunctions a couple of times (you wouldn't be able to play during the ship time). If they add like a 5 sec (hell even 10s) time between password attempts I think that would be more than enough security, as it would take forever to brute force the password if it was case sensitive. Also, if you don't happen to bring your chain around with you (fear it gets broken/lost/you don't want to look stupid) and you go to a friend's house/dorm/whatever and want to access your account on their computer (to show them something/whatever) then you would be out of luck.
Nothing ground breaking but enjoy: 44. Re: Are you going to play single player first | 7/30/2008 Source:http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d3-general&t=311483&s=blizzard&tmp=1#blizzard
There are other things that encourage you to play single: Characters don't expire You don't get (sometimes horrible) lag /players The first of these has the side effect that people may tend to create more characters, allowing them to keep more items...
I never really had bad lag over battle.net or at least any that I can remember. Single player definitely has the advantage of never expiring, but I agree with the article that the online was the real game.
I usually end up doing most of the stuff solo on b.net, until i hit the points where you need to "grind" to get levels in 8 player games.
Always been an online person myself. Never really like to solo in a game with multiplayer capabilities.
The lag is usually tolerable, but it has its moments. Something to do with the dupers coming out to play.
I'm like that a lot too. I soloed a huge portion of Guild Wars mainly because a massive portion of the GW community is a bunch of douche bags and 10 year olds. But after joining a good guild I was never able to solo anything if I could avoid it. Once you get a taste of true co-op play you just can't go back.
Diablo Comparison Video http://www.gametrailers.com/player/35766.html?type= An active and slightly acrimonious forum thread pointed me to this: a user-made video on GameTrailers with a few moments of gameplay contrasting the D1 warrior, D2 barbarian, and D3 barbarian. It's not exactly a fair comparison, since we see the D1 and D2 chars at very low level, using no special skills, while the D3 WWI demo barb is unleashing his full arsenal of skills. But the graphical improvements and visceral impacts and game speed are fair to compare, and it's hard not to be impressed with D3, by those metrics. The LQ version is embedded below. HQ version here.
I got the battle chest a little while back with Diablo 1. I've played it before of course, but it's nice to have the full game again.

There we go they had their reasons for changing it now I hope people will stop complaining. I doubt it though.
Q u o t e: 1. As we all know, one of the lead developers is Leonard Boyarsky. He is well known for working on such projects as: Fallout and Arcanum. May we suppose, that the world map in D3 will look like the one from Fallout or Arcanum so we will travel through it in a real time and encounter monsters? Act transitions haven't really been discussed externally. It would be cool to have something a bit more engaging; however, I think the Diablo II style zoom-zoom to the next act ...worked. Q u o t e: 2. Will there be a risk of falling into the abyss or off the bridge being knocked or pushed by the monster? No. Unless it's part of a special event or something. Q u o t e: 3. Would it be possible to filter games by any installed game mod if there will be an Open Battle.Net in D3? We've never supported and don't intend to support "mods" for Diablo II or III. Q u o t e: 4. Its clearly understandable that there will be some forest landscapes (like jungles around Kurast) in D3. Will the forest landscapes reflect the atmosphere of an ancient, deep and sombre forest? Or there will be just pre-made paths, like in Diablo II? We haven't announced/shown any locations beyond those on the website. Q u o t e: 5. In the gameplay movie we saw a final battle with a boss, where with his brutal strength he bit the player's head off. Can such situation be possible while playing Diablo 3? For e.g.: after reaching some breakpoint (critical point) in character's health, the boss smashes the hero with some unique ability? That's what we would like to do. We'd like it that when a player dies to a boss we may have a special/random event or death animation specific to that boss. So if you're going to die or have died to a boss, there's a random chance that you'll see something other than a normal death. That's the dream any way. Q u o t e: 6. Will there be the alternation between day and night? If so, will it influence the game in some way? E.g. different mobs at night and day (some mobs that can be met only during day/night etc), character's skills or weapon will gain additional mods (to enhance attack and damage etc)? Not that I know of. Q u o t e: 7. Will it be possible to see the total bonuses given by the weapons, armor, etc on the screen without calculating them manually? E.g. will there be any screen that will show that all your stuff gives +20 to str and 5 to dex etc The UI is still under some design revision, but currently in Diablo III you can open your character sheet, and when mousing over a stat it lists what your total stat is and then breaks it down to base stat plus any modification. So for instance Vitality may list: "24 (22+2)" if you've got something giving you +2 to Vitality. That's the current design any how, but I don't see any reason for it to change. Q u o t e: 8. Which question would you like to ask yourself and then answer? Q: What's your favorite thing about playing Diablo III right now? A: Blood sprays. They never get old. Zombies seem to just be chock full of the stuff. Source: http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d3-general&t=328862&s=blizzard&tmp=1#blizzard
