I just picked this game up today, and played for like a half hour or so. Had to stop due to my studies, but here is my input: The campaign, so far, is wicked. I can't wait to do some firefight. Anyone else plan on picking up this game? If you want to get some firefight going, send me a message and I'll see if I can get on. The only downside to the game is that you can't 'pug' a group for firefight, which is sort of stupid. (for those of you who don't know, this is for 360.)
I heard the game was pretty short, to the point that it should have been an expansion. So paying 65 dollars for it off the start I don't think I can do it. Ars technica has a review up which talks about the length and content and what not. Might probably just rent it.
My view of it is its a 8 hour campain, firefight which is awesome (you should join me and PDog for it Brown), 3 extra Halo 3 maps, and a beta access for the next game. It has tons of replay and its a good solid game, so its worth it for me. And yes the campaign is awesome and firefight is a real challenge.
It was supposed to be an expansion at first afaik, then MS got this crazy idea to release it on its own. It was called Halo 3: Recon at first. Getting it tomorrow. I'm up for firefights over the weekend.
Actually, it was supposed to e an expansion at first, then *Bungie* got this crazy idea to add a fuck-ton more things to the game, and ended up realizing it wasn't really an expansion anymore, but an entire side-story. Game grew too big to be a DLC-Only game.
I"m not complaining one bit, lol. My friend and I have been psyched for this game for a while. Simply put, his gamertag has has ODST in it long before the games even mentioned it.
Eh I always thought of halo as a console Unreal Tournament but the games are decent and the story is pretty good. ODST just doesnt have enough in it for me to run off and buy it, looks decent though and PC's vrs NPC swarm is always fun Horde mode in gears is still one of my favorites.
I wasn't too thrilled to see that Bungie was coming out with this instead of a continuation of the original Halo story. I still might get it but maybe I'm just being pissy because I wanted more Master Chief.
In all honesty, as fond as I was of John AKA Spartan 117/Master Chief, it was getting old. 'Hey, I'm a super soldier! I am super strong, super resilient and am in this shiny suit of armor! I'm more or less invincible!".
Its the ODSTs (aka Helljumpers) returning to New Mombasa after the attack of the Covenant, with some nice other stuff. I'd say its a decent storyline
I really enjoyed the story...As usual. Joseph Statan is an amazing writer. But what I liked most about it is knowing what happened after Regret jumped out of the city in Halo 2 (If you didn't know, the cruiser that jumps during the opening cutscene of ODST is Reach's cruiser, the one that Chief chases in Halo 2). And it was a decent length too. I did it solo heroic, and managed about 7 or 8 hours out of it. Not to mention Firefight which can and has sucked a night out of my life (Zarash and me, and 3 hours later we're still on the same mission).
I have ODST, i've barely played it and it's worth the £30 i paid for it. I've been really tired of late so haven't had much concentration for gaming, but i'm sure i'll catch up sooner or later and get back into it. For the record it's the same storyline, just on a tanget
